VOICES: Polly Ingraham, in Conversation with Sarah Ross

April 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Please join us on Wednesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. in the church for a conversation with Polly Ingraham, author of Unconverted: Memoir of A Marriage. Polly is the wife of Rob Hirschfeld, the Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire, and will be in conversation with Sarah Ross, who has experience as a clergy spouse in Maryland.

Polly’s memoir traces her journey as an “unchurched” clergy spouse through three decades of marriage, three children, and four relocations. Polly’s book grapples with issues of difference and her search for spiritual meaning in places that resonate with her life and experience.

Polly writes that “to marry someone is to participate in a sacramental act, and yet marriage can also be a great mystery. If you don’t share the same faith as your spouse (or lifelong partner), the union takes on an added element of challenge.”

A graduate of Dartmouth College and the Bread Loaf School of English, Polly lives in Hopkinton, NH. She has spent most of her career working in high schools, as both an English teacher and a career advisor. She launched “The Panorama of a Pastor’s Wife” blog 15 years ago when she and her family lived in Amherst, MA. Now, she writes regularly on Substack at “Side By Side.”
